About
This is my virtual home and the center of my online universe. Here you find references to most of what I do online with some offline stuff thrown in for good measure. Most importantly can you thus see what I like, what I recommend checking out, what I write about and what I comment on.
The name of the site is a combination of words that together signify something third. “Orbi” should actually be “orbit”, but sounds cooler without the ending “t”. Besides is it also relevant without the “t” as it then means “world”. Like in the phrase previously used by the Romans and currently by the Pope “Urbi et Orbi”, which means “to the city and the world”. Orbit do most most people associate with outer space, but in fact it has more meanings than that. I particularly like these interpretations: “the usual course of one’s life or range of one’s activities”, “to go or travel in an orbit” and “the sphere of power or influence, as of a nation or person”.
“Naut” means “sailor” in Greek. Think of “nautical”, which means related to associated with seamen, navigation or ships. Naut can also be interpreted as “traveler”, which is the interpretation I chose.
Together do they, in my understanding at least, signify someone traveling through life exploring the world. Someone active within their own realm and not least someone traveling with their eyes open and with an open mind.
This is thus a site about me where you however won’t find much personal information. Truth be told am I much less interesting than my interests. Since I already as a child was curious, playful and inquisitive have the number of things and concepts that interest me added up.
Shaped by my education and the fact that you have to draw the limit somewhere have I chosen to focus on reflection and communication. I thus love looking both inward and outward if you will. Everything that humans do basically interest me. Even more so when they act in symphony with each other.
I view life as a journey. Think that reflecting is more important than concluding. That searching often is more rewarding than finding. That communicating is so essential that it should be celebrated and honored. I think a lot. Some say I think too much. Some even say I communicate too much. I am not sure that is even possible.
You think you know who you are. At least I hope you do. I am who I am. None of us would be who we are without those around us. Reflection is very important. I certainly think so. However do I think that communication may be even more important. You cannot have one without the other. Hence do I want to explore both. And then some.
I was born and lived the first years of my life in the city where the famous storyteller Hans Christian Andersen was born. I was born 59,393 days too late to share his exact birthday. After moving across my native country until I reached it’s capital I moved almost 1000km south a few years back. Currently, am I living and working in a smaller city lying on a wine route, 500km from Paris, 700km from London, 700km from Berlin and 600km from Milano.
I have a B.Sc. in Business Administration and Management Research (with English and German) as well as a M.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration (Majors in strategy, organization and management). My master thesis was called “Identity is Difference” with the subtitle “A theoretical deconstruction and reconstruction of the understanding of organizational identity based on Niklas Luhmann’s theory about self referential systems” and was very well received.
During my career have I worked in more positions within a number of companies in various industries as well as in more countries, cultures and languages. Moreover have I been working independently as a website publisher, advertising broker and internet consultant.
